The point of mind altering drugs is, that they do not allow for the clear ability to be able to come to an assessment of ‘context’ that ensures personal responsibility is understood for any actions taken, with clear and uninterrupted thought as a necessity to be able to ensure right action.
Clear thinking that precipitates right action, regardless of where you are to be found in the execution of your duties, leads to lawful behavior as the only standard that matters, and the only standard that reigns supreme above all else. Context is therefore the only way to arrive at lawful action or inaction.
The Nuremberg Trials* drew from the certainties of Lawfulness and the ‘implied context’ from which they are derived, as a responsibility for soldiers or those in authority, to ensure that their actions adhered to lawfulness.
Anything that affects the ability to think clearly about the ‘context’ in which everyone is to be found, in order to act lawfully, does a disservice to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line everyday for others.
